Multiculturalism, relativism, and ignorance of history are tools being utilized in the downfall of Western Civilization. Guilt over events that one had no involvement in and failure to acknowledge the spectacular achievements of one's society are two other tools that are contributing in the continuous downward spiral towards destruction.
I am not a modern day globalist. I have no problem with a global economy but it has to stop there. I am an American. Although my physical features are the same as billions on the planet, my outlook on life as well as my approach are definitely American. My loyalty goes toward God, Country, and Family. I tear up whenever I hear the National Anthem and I stand proud when I see the Stars and Stripes waving. When I served in the Navy it wasn't just any Navy, it was the United States Navy. I live in a union of states whose people are unmatched by any others in the world. When I say I am going to do something, I do it. When I pledge my loyalty, it is unwavering. If I call you friend, this bond can only be broken through lies and deceipt, stupidity and ignorance are dealt with. Lies break the bonds of friendship. I expect those that receive my loyalty to provide the same in return, though this is often not the case.
I am American. I speak an American version of English. I enjoy reading about American history. I take pride in my nation's accomplishments and am saddened by it's failures. The Difference being, In America, failures often lead to greater accomplishments. That is, until recently. Failure's have become relative. The word itself will probably be redefined in the next generation or two. Discipline, responsibility, accountability, integrity, and humility have become archaic references to old coots.
This is not only a problem in the United States. Europe has been dealing with this problem since the end of WWII. The Middle East is a perfect example of relativism and an anarchic approach to life. Until we come to terms with our own responsibilities and have the discipline to fulfill them, our country will continue to flail. We can sit here and blame politics and politicians until the cows come home. Truth is, the problem lies at our feet. We have allowed relativism to permeate our society and take away our identity. We are doing what no homicide bomber, 19 terrorists, or invading army could possibly do, destroying ourselves. We have lost the idea of who we are. We have lost what we truly stand for. We are tarnishing the idea of America.
George W. Bush didn't do this. William Jefferson Clinton didn't do this. We, the people, did. Mob rule and the "I'm ok you're ok" mindset did this. The breakdown of the family has led to a more violent juvenile. The acceptance of everything and the denial of nothing has created a less civil society. For all of the great humane advances our nation has made we have stepped into the abyss. We are more concerned with being liked than right. We are more concerned with life than living. We have lost the will to fight that which is evil and oppressive and in some cases have decided that evil and oppressive aren't all that bad.
Unless we undergo a drastic change in attitude and action, we will not like where we end up. At that point the fingers will be pointed and blame will be cast. Unfortunately the blame will be passed on to others. The true blames lies upon us.
