Recently I have been writing about the idealist approach and its failure that the President used when entering Iraq. I support the war effort and I do believe that war with Iraq was necesssary. The removal of Saddam was and is an improvement. The problem with the President's approach was that he applied western thinking to the arab-islamic world. The last war American troops were allowed to truly fight in was Korea and that was given the brakes before it was finished. Vietnam was being run by politicians in the beltway as opposed to the men in the field. Despite that, the military did succeed at the missions the were given. Unfortunately they were prohibited from defeating the enemy. The weak will of the "free love" generation was put on display and manipulated to the enemy's advantage. The Vietnamese hid in their holes making hit and run assaults and waited for the Americans to leave. The Islamic world has learned much about Americans from this tactic. America has not lost a war when American's displayed an unbreakable will. That unbreakable will appears to be dying as the "Greatest Generation" dies.
The war in Iraq was an invasion that forced the enemy to run and hide. The Iraqi army knew it couldn't defeat American military might so it allied itself with terror organizations. They are now waiting for the American people to quit. In order to truly win a war the enemy must lose all hope of success and fear annihilation. Instead, it is the American people that are losing the hope of success and are actually afraid to unleash true military might because of the "innocents" that would be killed. Pundits and talking heads are coming out of the woodworks to point fingers and claim that we are nothing more than imperialists. According to them it is America that is the problem in the world.
If we were truly imperialist we would have wiped out Iraq, taken over the government, and enforced our laws on these people. The Presidents idealism stopped this from happening. This is what I think we should have done. The only way to build a better country and culture is to destroy the existing evil one. Nothing that Iraq had in place was of value in the modern world. The laws they had were varying and archaic. Tribes and militias were constantly at battle and waited for the moment they could bring it to the fore. To participate in war means to kill the enemy. This means death to anyone siding with the enemy. Islamic faith is used to foster the hatred that we face now. The infidels entered their holy land and it needs to be cleansed. It doesn't matter to these people that the infidel rid them of an evil man they couldn't depose themselves. It doesn't matter that the infidel is spending its treasure to provide infrastructure and services to the locals. It doesn't matter to these people that the infidel has sacrificed its citizens in the defense of Iraqi freedom. This translates easily, these people don't think like us.
I have no problem with the President changing strategy. I do have a problem if it will be more of the white glove treatment. We allowed the Afghans to keep sharia law as the contolling component in their government. BIG MISTAKE. This provides more of the same. This is provides inherent bigotry within the government. Allowing Al Sadr to have a political party has not eliminated his attacks within Iraq. This attempt at diplomacy was a bad idea. Al Sadr should be dead along with his followers and other Iranian lackeys.
Had I had the keys to this car one of the first trips I would have made are to the mosques. every single one of them would have been flattened. Troops would have started from every border available and fought until they all met up. This would have been the only way to have defeated and prevented the Islamists from performing the way the are now. Belligerent as it may sound, that is the only way to defeat these people. They do not conform to any "gentleman's agreement on warfare." They apparently want victory greater than we do. We handcuff our soldiers and keep them from performing their primary function, win wars.
It is time to change strategy. Restart the war and win it. Kill the enemy. Give notice to the rest of the region that we will no longer put up with their Islamist fantasies. Live free or die. By this I mean, set aside your hatred and live in peace or we will kill you.
