Last night a fight broke out after a game between the Nuggets and the Knicks. This should no longer comes as a surprise to anyone. It seems that in all athletics this has become a normal occurrence. In fact it exemplifies what has become of our society. The NBA has become exactly what it set itself up to be. Rules are no longer enforced, the individual outweighs the team, and there's millions of dollars to be passed around to any uneducated thug who can make a basket. In the overall picture of life, how important is basketball? Nil.
There was a melee in a College football game earlier this season. Players were suspended and kicked off the team. One of the teams involved in the donnybrook will be appearing in a bowl game. Bowl Games are set up to reward teams for achievement during the season. What achievement does this team bring? Yes my idea of a reward for achievement is naive. They are actually setup to raise revenue for the colleges and the networks. Achievement is a cursory reason.
There was a time when Athletes represented the potential achievement of mankind. They worked hard, they sacrificed, they put it all on the line all to attain a level of performance that was abnormal. They were on display to show what Human Beings could attain through hardwork and selfsacrifice. Now all they do is show how greedy and self serving we have become. Ir you want to know how the world sees us, look at our athletes. It's not a pretty sight.
